 Common Surfing Knowledge And Public Safety

We are coming into peak Hurricane Season, a time when we get bigger, powerful waves. It’s a time that the line-up goes from crowded to extremely crowded and it is dangerous. It’s important for surfers to exercise caution in crowded conditions. For beginners, choosing an uncrowded spot will give you the space to make the process of learning to surf a lot more stress-free. That way, as your wave riding skills become more refined, you’ll be able to step up to the more popular, over-crowded breaks which makes it safer for everyone.

The Big Bend of Florida on the West coast is getting hammered by Hurricane Idalia, our thoughts and prayers go out them. Hopefully, no lives are lost & the damage is minimal.  

Our first report shows Hurricane Idalia to the West and Hurricane Franklin to our east in the Atlantic. Jacksonville is boxed in between and we have what looks to be choppy, chest to head high range surf, with strong sideshore SSE winds. At report time, we’re still getting large swells from Hurricane Franklin but its NOT a good day for surfing. Follow advisories  from local authorities and check back for our next update. Stay safe!
