Ok, so we’ve told this story before.
That’s what old guys do, we relive the good ol days, days way back when we used to surf. Right? Wrong! We are actually still alive and kickin. Perry Penland, Les Sutton, and Eddie Pitts are childhood friends. We first surfed together in approximately 1966. Twenty years later we labeled ourselves “Tres Amigos” while on a surf and discovery mission in Central America, (when we got back to Florida it was published in a local mag). Twenty years after that we were solo surfing an empty reef in Puerto Rico,(awesome) and we laughed about the Tres Amigos being on it again, (when we got back to Florida it was published in VOID Mag). On Thursday, 07-19-2018, we found ourselves the only surfers in the water as some gnarly thunderstorms with lightening were approaching. We decided if we are staying out here we’d get the waterhousing to document Tres Amigos Three, (for publishing on 911 Surf Report). Sure, it was an act of foolishness but we pulled it off without a hitch, (DON’T try this at home folks)! Luckily, the bulk of the storm horseshoed around us and kept us in the water without too much worry. Great friends are hard to come by and after 50 years, these guys are the best! EP
