Common Surfing Knowledge And Public Safety
We are coming into peak Hurricane Season, a time when we get bigger, powerful waves. It’s a time that the line-up goes from crowded to extremely crowded and it is dangerous. It’s important for surfers to exercise caution in crowded conditions. For beginners, choosing an uncrowded spot will give you the space to make the process of learning to surf a lot more stress-free. That way, as your wave riding skills become more refined, you’ll be able to step up to the more popular, over-crowded breaks which makes it safer for everyone.
Report: 2 / Time: 1:35 PM / Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ of 10
NOTE: Due to Hurricane Idalia, Hanna & Huguenot Parks Are Closed Until Further Notice.
Hurricane Idalia is moving away from Florida, our thoughts and prayers go out The Big Bend Region of Florida that took the brunt of the Hurricane. Hopefully, no lives were lost.
Our second report shows Hurricane Idalia moving out of Florida, that’s good news. With Hurricane Franklin to our east, Jacksonville is still getting swell in the chest to head high range surf, with strong side-offshore SSW winds. At report time, it’s rideable but not great and in general, its NOT a good day for surfing. Follow advisories from local authorities and check back for our next update. Stay safe!
