Hey did I miss something whats up with all the dead oak trees? Was this from saltwater intrusion from last hurricane season or something from the navy base?

You missed a lot! Hurricane Matthew flooded the parking lot and surrounding woods with about 18″ of sea water which didn’t subside for a couple of weeks. By that time the salt water intrusion had killed the oaks. After about 18 months the park cut many of the leafless falling trees down, (that is why it looks so bare).
